Compound noun: match, matchstick.
Tulitikku is seen in our example in its plural form, tulitikut. (”Tändstickor” is the Swedish.)
Tulitikku is a compound word made from tuli which means “fire” and tikku which means “splinter,” ”sliver,” ”chip” or ”stick”.
Be careful with the word tikku as it refers mainly to very small, splinter-like pieces of wood as in toothpicks and safety matches. What in English are often referred to as ”sticks” are usually larger.
